Welcome back to The High Low!

Can you believe Coachella is still a thing? Though the days of attendees donning culturally offensive attire may be somewhat behind us, the event still seems to be a huge magnet for celebrities, pseudo-celebrities, and normies alike. And it isn’t for the fashion — it’s actually for the music performances! This year, so far, we got to see some very different performances… and we have feelings about them.

Read to the end for an impressive non-Coachella music performance.

Coachella and the Polarizing Bieberchella

Coachella 2026 completed its first weekend and there were some big performances with fun surprise guests. KATSEYE brought out Ejae, Audrey Nuna, and Rei Ami (the singing voices of HUNTR/X from KPop Demon Hunters), Major Lazer brought out M.I.A., and Sabrina Carpenter had a number of celebrity cameos, including Will Ferrell.

One headliner that kept things very minimal at Coachella was Justin Bieber. Following his stripped-down Grammys performance, the “Yukon” singer once again dialed things down. No major set design or complex light show. No dance choreography or costume changes. Instead, at one point, Bieber sat at a laptop, sharing his screen with the audience as he scrolled through his old music videos, his YouTube videos, and even the viral paparazzi video of him saying, “It’s not clocking to you that I’m standing on business.”

This particular set felt like an interesting piece of performance art. But… is that what Coachella is for? Do people pay anywhere from $550 to $1,200 to stand around and watch a 32-year-old man scroll through old videos of himself? Maybe. This performance has certainly been polarizing.

Some commend the singer for his deep and personal performance that seems to show him “healing his inner child.” Others criticize how “lazy” it felt, especially when compared to Sabrina Carpenter’s massive production. Personally, I’m not a Belieber, and I don’t belieb (hehe) that his performance was meant for me. His die-hard fans were the target audience, and they seemed to enjoy it, so good for all of them. I’ll just be over here, watching Laufey’s “Madwoman” music video and rewatching Rosalía’s Lux Tour performance of “La Perla” for the hundredth time.

What if your outties had been to the Moon? But your innies never knew about it. Just for fun: throwback to Halloween 2025, when the Artemi... See more

  • 🌙 For the first time in over 50 years, humans have made it to the moon and back again. And they captured some breathtaking images along the way. NASA’s Artemis II mission was an incredible 10-day journey that seems to have reignited a passion for astronomy and space travel. (It’s also perfect timing with the premiere of the newest season of Apple TV’s For All Mankind.) And while we celebrate this historic feat today, it’s also a good time to look back at how we’ve come this far. Did you know that the Deaf community is partially to thank for our ability to send humans into space? Watch this quick history lesson given by Deaf activist, ANTM-winning model, DWTS winner, and filmmaker Nyle DiMarco.

  • 🏗️ The Getty Center will close for renovations for an entire year. But don’t worry, the closure won’t begin until March 15, 2027. The institution will be undergoing “the most significant modernization in its almost 30-year history,” which includes replacing its outdated tram system.

  • 🏕️ Troop Beverly Hills is getting a sequel and word on the street is that Cameron Diaz is going to star in it. Clea DuVall is writing and directing the film, and I, for one, am very excited. The original is a seminal classic for me. Shelly Long as the redheaded socialite turned unlikely scout leader will be hard to replicate, but I’m ready for whatever they give me.

  • 🎬 Another redhead who is confidently out of her depth and getting a new program that I’m excited about is Philomena Cunk (played by the brilliant Diane Morgan). The “beloved idiot” is getting another show called Cunk on Cinema. This will join her other ingenious series: Cunk on Britain, Cunk on Earth, and Cunk on Life.

  • 🐕 Season 2 of Netflix’s Beef is set to premiere this week (April 16) and though it has a cast with some big names like Oscar Isaac and Carey Mulligan, the real star has got to be Jones the dog, who made his red carpet debut at the premiere and absolutely stole the show.

  • 🌸 Speaking of red carpets, Mt. Fuji got its own pink carpet made of 500,000 flowers. Needless to say, it looks like heaven on Earth. If you’re in Japan you can see it for yourself at the Fuji Shibazakura Festival, celebrated at Fuji Motosuko Resort. It’s open now until May 24.

  • ⌨️ Artist Marina Fujiwara has created the perfect keyboard to quickly express your rage and distaste. The “FUCK YOU” KEYBOARD is exactly what it sounds like — a keyboard to write “FUCK YOU.” It features only 9 keys, and it comes in 2 colors. Yes, it’s real. You can actually purchase it online until April 26. And like the promo says: “It won’t actually help, but you’ll feel stronger.”

  • 📚 If you’re a sucker for simple thrillers like me, then you’ve surely heard the name Freida McFadden. If you haven’t, that’s the name of the author behind The Housemaid trilogy, the first of which was recently made into a film starring Amanda Seyfried and Sydney Sweeney. Well, the best-selling author has written countless books over the years (seriously, she published three whole novels in 2025 alone!), but it turns out she’s been using a pseudonym this whole time. She’s finally revealed her real name… it’s Sara Cohen.
